South Carolina is a Great Place to Own a Small Business

The Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council has rated the climate in the various states for Entrepreneurship. South Carolina does well.
The Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council has released an analysis of the climate in the 50 United States and the District of Columbia for small business. The Small Business Survival Index 2007 puts South Carolina in 8th place. The article cites, among other factors, "taxes, various regulatory costs, government spending, property rights, health care and energy costs." The top 10 are:
