Insurance and new hire record requirements.
Employers in
South Carolina are required to obtain insurance
coverage upon reaching four employees. Owners of
LLC's and corporations must include themselves in the
employee count. You and three others means mandatory
insurance coverage. Daily fines are imposed for
failure to obtain insurance. Furthermore, the
business will be liable for all worker's compensation
benefits payable to the injured employee under the
law.
Remember, form I-9 (under the Immigration Reform and Control Act) must be filled out at the time of hire and retained for three years or one year after termination, whicer is later. The form must be available for inspection by authorized Government officials.
